Somfy is the worlds leading manufacturer of specialized motors and control systems for retractable awnings, rolling shutters, interior shades, blinds, projection screens and other lift-up applications for the home or office.

Motorizing shades not only creates a more comfortable lifestyle but can also help save energy and lower your utility bills. Home Automation is a simple and easy solution for energy savings.

Somfy motors are available with radio frequency or RTS control (Radio Technology Somfy), or can be hard-wired or operated through a digital network. The type of motors, controls, and systems will depend on many factors such as the number of motorized shades, size of the home or office, type of home automation system if equipped, and possible RF interference within the structure and budget. Consult with Covers Designers Edge early in your project to determine the system scope and preferences. We will be happy to guide you and your builder in pre-wiring (if required) and system design.

For simpler applications or when wiring is not feasible, the use of low voltage motors with rechargeable LI-ION batteries is generally preferred. Somfy provides DC and AC motors for every application.

Covers SmartPlus Motors

Covers offers several options in low cost motorization. Our latest rechargeable motor will operate shades up to 96 x 96 depending on the fabric selection. It features a built-in LI-ION rechargeable battery so there are no external components. Depending on the frequency of use and size of shade, the charge will last up to one year before re-charging for 4-6 hours. All motors are controlled with an RF remote. We also offer low voltage ultra-quiet low voltage motors for larger shades or banded shades. Ask for more information on Covers SmartPlus motors.
